Spring 2008 Workshop offerings

In addition to the workshops are offered each semester by PRI Core Services staff members, you may also want to consider workshops offered by the Penn State Information Technology Services, check the links in the PSUtraining box on the right-hand side of this screen for more information.

The Graduate School, in cooperation with Penn State Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Council, is offering the workshops listed below on GIS training. These workshops are geared toward faculty, staff, graduate and undergraduate students interested in incorporating GIS into their research projects. For information, visit http://www.gis.psu.edu

For Spring Semester 2008 there is a new 1-credit SAS class offered by the Statistics Dept that you may want to consider: STAT 480 Introduction to SAS And two classes on survey design and analysis: SOC (PL SC) 518 Survey Methods I: Survey Design and PL SC (SOC) 519 Survey Methods II: Analysis of Survey Data .

Summer 2008 Methods Workshop

Each summer the Dual Degree students organize a Summer Methods Workshop.

The 2008 summer workshop will introduce Age-Period-Cohort models. Three lectures will be offered from 9am to 2pm on June 16.

PRI Workshops this Semester

Poster Design This workshop will cover the basics of designing, producing and presenting effective research posters. Demonstrations will be given in Adobe Illustrator and Microsoft PowerPoint

Propensity Score Matching This workshop will introduce the logic of propensity scores and discuss how researchers have applied this method on observational data for social science research.

Mplus Learn how to read datasets into mplus, obtain descriptive statistics, run OLS and logistic regression, and analyze data using path analysis.
