Most large survey data sets have design features that affect significance tests and standard errors. This presentation will discuss the common sources of such design effects and the reasons why they need to be taken into consideration in the analysis of the data.  Ways to adjust for the design effects in regression models estimated in common software packages will be discussed. Several empirical examples will be presented.
