How to cite your work in NIH proposals, applications, and progress reports

When you cite your own journal articles, or articles resulting from your funding, which fall under the NIH Public Access Policy you must include the PMCID.

Example:
Dodoo, F.N. , E.M. Zulu and A.C. Ezeh (2007). "Urban-Rural Differences in the Socioeconomic Deprivation-Sexual Behavior Link in Kenya." Social Science and Medicine 64(5):1019-1031. PMCID: PMC1852503

If a PMCID has not been assigned, use the NIHMSID.

If neither number is available, enter "PMC journal - in process" after your citation.
