Oswald Unplugged!

Oswald Tower now has wireless capability.

If you already have the VPN software installed on your computer to access wireless at other areas across campus, then you're all set! Connecting in Oswald Tower is exactly the same as connecting in any other ITS-Wireless location across campus.

What Do I Need?

If you are not already setup for wireless access at Penn State, follow these steps:

  • Penn State Access Account
  • Hardware: wireless capable laptop, such as those that are wireless-ready or that have a PCMCIA card slot.
  • Software: The VPN Client Software. To download the VPN software:
    1. Visit https://downloads.its.psu.edu/ (PSU access login required)
    2. Click on "Connecting to Penn State"
    3. Go to VPN-Virtual Private Network and click on the machine you are using: Windows/MacIntosh/Unix/Linux
    4. Choose your operating system version to download the software and documentation to install.

Unplug and Fire Up a Connection!

Once VPN is installed, all you have to do is:

  • Power up your laptop.
  • Launch your VPN client software by clicking the VPN Client icon on your desktop, and select: "ITS WIRELESS AT UP" and click the Connect icon.
  • Use the wireless network for your tasks.
  • Click the Disconnect icon in the VPN client when you are done.

Can I access the PopNet network?

If you have an account on PRI's network, you may be able to access PopNet resources. Visit http://help.pop.psu.edu/popnet-help/applications-server for more information.
